Organifi Green Juice Review – Positives and Negatives

This review will tell you all you need to know about Organifi Green Juice before making a buying decision. There are some areas that we really like and some that we don’t. Real deal or missed opportunity?

Review of Organifi green juice

Is Organifi Green Juice a product you can take seriously? One aspect of the way the product is marketed suggests not.

The tubs bear an emblem that states “Voted #1 Best Tasting Greens Powder”. Look a little closer and you will see only one person is saying this. It’s “Drew’s Mom”. Who is Drew? He’s the guy who created the product.

This is probably a tongue-in-cheek attempt at humor, but many people may miss the fact that it’s a mum-endorsed product.

Drew Canole is a self-educated health and fitness expert. Apart from creating the brand, he’s the author of several books. He’s also the owner of the website Fitlife.TV.

POSITIVES

SUMMARY
It’s a shame. We really wanted to like this product but found ourselves being frustrated as what could have been a super super green product.

The good ingredient profile was overshadowed by the mystery of the inclusion rates. The good reviews were overshadowed by the bad and the guarantee … well you get the picture.

What Is Green Juice?

Organifi Green Juice is a superfood supplement. Products of this nature come as a powder. The powder is made from ground leaves, roots, and other plant extracts. You mix the powder with water or the beverage of your choice and then consume it as a drink.

Despite the name, this is not actually a green juice.

Green juices are made from freshly pressed vegetables. They may also contain the juices taken from other plant sources. They are highly nutritious but fail to provide dietary fiber.

Green powers like this one are more commonly called “greens powders” or “super greens”. Such products are all the rage these days. There’s plenty of choice.

By their very nature, super greens are highly nutritious. Apart from providing vitamins and minerals, a good super greens powder also provides antioxidants, plant proteins, and carbohydrate.

Like all superfood powders, super greens are also a source of dietary fiber. In that way, they are superior to green juices.

Organifi’s Main Marketing Claims

The sales page on the official website states 92% of Americans have a vitamin deficiency. It then suggests Green Juice makes it easy for you to transform your life in only 30 seconds per day.

All you have to do is “scoop, stir, and sip” a glass of juice at the start of your day.

However, it’s important to be aware the vitamin deficiency details are not entirely accurate.

Although the site does not state where the figure 92% is taken from, it did not take much digging to find the source.

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in question actually states 95 percent of adults have an inadequate vitamin D intake.

https://kresserinstitute.com/well-fed-but-undernourished-an-american-epidemic/

So, although Vitamin D deficiency appears to be very common in the US, Organifi is making the problem with vitamin deficiency appear more across the board than it is.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. Mushrooms are the only plant that provides it.

Organifi Green Juice does not contain mushrooms.

Promised Benefits

  • Provides a daily detox
  • Boosts immune function
  • Burns fat
  • Hydrates and revitalizes
  • Supports mental clarity
  • Helps with occasional stress

How to Use Organifi Green Juice

You take once or twice per day. Be aware of the fact that each tub only contains 30 servings. That means if you take two servings per day a tub will only be good for 15 days.

Preparing the drink is easy. Simply add one (9g) scoop of the powder to 8-16 oz of water.

Instead of water, you can also use rice milk, coconut milk, or almond milk. Adding it to a smoothie is a further option.

Organifi Vs Other Superfood Powders

Organifi Green Juice differs from competing products because it not intended to provide the same kind of overall health boost.

According to the FAQs on the manufacturer’s website, the natural ingredients it provides are there to “reset your system”, reduce stress, and curb cravings. Apparently, Organifi Green Juice is primarily meant to function as detox product and weight loss aid.

Additionally, it aims to restrain the taste buds and make it easier to consume nutritious food instead of ones that processed and/or full of sugar. Some of these claims are different from the ones on the sales page and the label.

Organifi also has a Red Juice superfood blend and there’s a Gold one as well.

The Red Juice and Gold superfood blends are intended to provide a slightly different range of benefits. The idea is to take the Green Juice each morning, The Red Juice at noon, and the Gold at night.

Needless to say, using this “all-day superfood system” is a very expensive way to go. Many good super greens powders provide a broader spectrum of nutrients and only need to be taken once per day.

Ingredient Profile and Supplement Facts

The supplement facts leave a lot to be desired. They don’t tell you a lot. Many other super greens products provide a detailed breakdown of all the nutrients involved. Organifi Does not.

According to the label, each serving provides:

  • Calories  30
  • Total Carbohydrate  6g
  • Dietary fiber 3g
  • Sugars  1g
  • Iron 3mg
  • Calcium 31mg
  • Sodium 10mg
  • Protein 2mg

All the ingredients are organic. Unfortunately, they are housed in proprietary blends. No inclusion rates are provided.

Alkaline Greens Proprietary Blend (5.1 g)

  • Wheatgrass
  • Wheatgrass juice powder
  • Horseradish tree leaf
  • Spirulina
  • Chlorella
  • Matcha green tea

Super Food Proprietary Blend (1.45 g)

  • Coconut water powder
  • Ashwagandha root extract
  • Red Beetroot
  • Turmeric

The formulation also contains a number of additional ingredients. Again, no inclusion rates are available.

  • Prebiotic soluble dietary fiber (from tapioca starch)
  • Lemon juice powder (for flavor)
  • Lemon Flavor
  • Spearmint powder (for flavor)
  • Mint flavor
  • Orange flavor
  • Luo han guo (monk fruit)

Blend Potential

Organifi Green Juice contains 17 ingredients. That’s not unusual for a superfood powder. Unfortunately, the lack of inclusion rates makes it impossible to guess how good this one is likely to be.

Let’s use the Alkaline Greens Proprietary Blend as an example. It accounts for 5.1 g of each 9 g serving.

That means around 56% of each serving of powder will consist of the ingredients housed in the Alkaline Greens Proprietary Blend.

The blend contains six ingredients and the proportions are unknown. It could be an even mix or one ingredient may dominate the blend. There’s an infinite number of possibilities as far as the weights and ratios go.

For instance, the blend may be predominantly wheatgrass. In a scenario like that, most of the benefits on offer will be the ones related to wheatgrass.

Then again, the predominant ingredient may be wheatgrass juice powder. That’s not made by grinding wheatgrass. It’s the powder that’s left when you dry the juices pressed from wheatgrass. It contains all the nutrients and none of the fiber.

Some manufacturers use proprietary blends to hide the fact that their formulations mainly consist of one or two cheap ingredients and very little of the better, more powerful ones.

Others, who come up with very sophisticated formulations, use proprietary blends to prevent their rivals from copying their formulations. It’s easy to see the sense of this. Why would they make it easy for their competitors to steal their ideas and benefit from their hard work?

Either way, withholding inclusion rates can be a smart move for manufacturers.

Let’s take a closer look at the blends and the ingredients involved.

Alkaline Greens Proprietary Blend (5.1 g)

Wheatgrass is just normal wheat that’s been harvested early. The young stalks are taken before the ears of corn get chance to put in an appearance.

Wheatgrass is good for providing vitamin A, Vitamin C, and iron, and amino acids. It may also help lower cholesterol.

Leaves from the horseradish tree (moringa) are rich in vitamins and minerals. Some people use the leaves for weight loss purposes. They also have antibacterial capabilities.

Although it’s credited with many desirable qualities, moringa can also interact badly with certain medications.

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319916.php

Spirulina and chlorella are species of algae. Both of them are very nutritious. Spirulina is probably the most famous of the two because NASA has used it to nourish its astronauts in space.

Green tea is an incredibly healthy beverage. The antioxidants it provides fight oxidative stress within the body and help prevent disease. The antioxidants in green tea also furnish it with fat burning capabilities.

https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/70/6/1040/4729179

Matcha is more potent than normal green tea because it provides the entire leaf in powder form.

Super Food Proprietary Blend (1.45 g)

Coconut water provides important minerals the body uses as neurotransmitters. This makes coconut water very good for keeping the body hydrated. Some people use it as a sports drink.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen herb that can help prevent stress and provide other desirable benefits.

Red beetroot is a good ingredient for a superfood powder. It’s rich in nitrates that provide vasodilation and improve the circulation.

By improving blood flow, beetroot allows the muscles and important organs to benefit from a better supply of nutrients and oxygen. This can boost energy levels and benefit overall health in many ways.

Turmeric also has the potential to boost energy levels. This ability comes courtesy of a compound called curcumin.

Curcumin is also a potent antioxidant that neutralizes free radical toxins and reduces inflammation.

Turmeric offers a lot of value in a formulation such as this. Unfortunately, the body does not absorb curcumin well. When you consume turmeric, most of the curcumin is wasted.

Black pepper contains a compound that improves curcumin absorption by up to 2000%. For this reason, many supplements that contain turmeric also contain black pepper or its active component, piperine. Organifi Green Juice does not.

So, even if it contains a decent amount of turmeric all it will do is dilute the other ingredients. It will be incapable of adding much value at all.

Additional Ingredients

Let’s do some maths. Each scoop provides 9 g of powder and 5.1g of that powder consists of the ingredients used in the Alkaline Greens proprietary blend. The Super Food Proprietary Blend accounts for another 1.45 g. That means nearly 2.5 g of the formulation contains the extra ingredients.

The additional ingredients only appear to be there to improve the flavor.

Tapioca starch is a possible exception because it’s a prebiotic. Natural fiber of this sort feeds the probiotic bacteria present in the gut. This helps the bacteria to multiply and, because this is the type of bacteria that supports good health, it’s good to see a prebiotic in the formulation.

The problem is, it seems probable the formulation will not provide much tapioca starch at all.

Customer Comments

The customer reviews and video testimonials on show at the official website are all very good. They suggest the product provides all the benefits you would expect from a good superfood powder.

Organifi green juice good reviews

Many reviews published on less biased sites are excellent as well. However, there are also a lot of people complaining about the product.

Some customers merely state they feel the product does not work, while others complain it’s overpriced or say they don’t like the taste.

Still others allege they never received their order were unable to contact Organifi because the customer services did not respond to emails or phone calls.

In fact, many customer reviews suggest the company is unresponsive or difficult to contact.

Interestingly, some customers claim the company blocked them on social media and speculate the action was an attempt to prevent negative feedback.

Organifi negative comments

A number of customers also complain about repeat shipments and additional charges being made to their cards. They state they were unaware they were signing up for an auto-ship program. This is probably due to their not reading the order details thoroughly.

Although the site does offer an auto-ship option, there does not appear to be any sneakiness or trickery involved and it’s possible to pay the full price and place a single tub order if you want.

Known Side Effects and Other Health Considerations

Superfood products are generally one of the healthiest food supplements you can buy. On the face of it, it appears to be a healthy option as well. However, if you are thinking of using this product it’s important to read the label carefully.

The label bears a P65 Warning.

P65 side effects

P65 Warnings are a Californian initiative that aims to protect the health of consumers living in the state of California.

Proposition 65 became law in 1986. It forces businesses to place warnings on products that may cause “significant exposures” to chemicals that might cause harm.

P65 warnings exist to help consumers in the state of California make an informed decision before buying and using products that contain chemicals of this nature.

https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/

How harmful these chemicals are is open to debate. If there was a significant health risk it seems likely the FDA would ban products that contain them.

It’s also worth remembering the initiative is only active in California. Products that contain the same ingredients can be sold in other States without the need for a warning.

The label also bears a standard recommendation that suggests women who are pregnant or nursing a child seek medical advice before using Green Juice. Children should not consume it without medical approval either.

Additionally, the label states the product has to be stored in the refrigerator after it is opened and be used within 90 days.  Although this statement is written in red text, some consumers have failed to take the necessary precautions and claim the powder made them ill.

Where to Buy Organifi Green Juice

You won’t find this product in the stores but you can buy it from the official website. Each tub provides 30 servings and retails for $69.95 – $79.95.

Bulk buy savings are also available and buying a single bottle via auto-ship reduces the cost to $59.95 for a 30-day supply.

Guarantee

Organifi promises a 60-day money back guarantee. Sixty days is good because it gives customers plenty of time to evaluate the product.

Unfortunately, some customers complain they were unable to get in touch with the customer services department to obtain the confirmation number that has to accompany product returns.

Is This a Good Superfood Powder to Buy?

Contains some good ingredients. It’s just a pity there’s no way to ascertain what the quantities and ratios are. Too much of one thing or not enough of another can have a dramatic impact on the level of benefit a product like this provides.

Although the majority of customer reviews are good, the formulation may not be as powerful as some of the alternatives.

If you disregard the customer reviews that say the product is not worth the money, there are still lots of reviews that mention other problems.

The fact that so many people claim to have problems contacting customer services is particularly worrying. A 60-day guarantee is great. It’s not so good if you can’t get through to the company and arrange to make a product return.

Think long and hard before you buy this product and be sure to weight up all the pros and cons.
