SUMMARY
Tejocote Root is overrated in our opinion. It could also be described as unproven weight loss product that’s has the benefit of marketing hype. Too many manufacturers are making big claims for tejocote root and too few consumers are taking the time to do research and uncover facts.

If you want a good natural appetite suppressant that’s safe to use, forget tejocote root products and choose ones that use clinically proven ingredients.

What is Alipotec Tejocote Root ?

Alipotec Tejocote Root is a weight management supplement that provides tejocote root. It’s produced in Mexico for Alipotec LLC. According to the bottle, the company is based in San Antonio, Texas.

It’s important not to confuse Alipotec LLC with Alipotec South TX LLC. Although it’s also based in Texas, this appears to be a different company that sells the same root in different bottles under the ELV Alipotec brand name.

At the time of this review, Alipotec South TX LLC was under investigation by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) regarding unsubstantiated health claims and presenting logos and associated media that suggests its products are approved by the FDA. (https://web.archive.org/web/20210909210322/https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/eagle-pass/profile/health-and-wellness/alipotec-south-tx-llc-0825-1000148862)

It’s not possible to patent-protect pieces of root, so several other companies are  also distributing tejocote root under additional brand names. Regardless of the name on the bottle, the root inside is the same.

Although tejocote root allegedly helps with weight loss, we were unable to find any research to support this claim. However, we did find plenty of information about side effects including swelling of the tissues that surround the heart.

What Comes Included?

When you buy Alipotec Tejocote Root dietary supplement pieces in its standard form, you get 100 small pieces of the chopped root in a bottle.

Alipotec LLC also has a pill-type version that provides a processed version inside a push-together capsule.

Also known as Mexican hawthorn, Tejocote (Crataegus Mexicana) is tree that’s native to Mexico and Guatemala.

How to Use Alipotec Tejocote Root

The dose is one piece of root per day, with a full glass of water, just after breakfast.

Alipotec root can diminish potassium levels so people using it need to eat plenty of potassium-rich food, such as bananas and spinach, or take a daily potassium supplement instead.

Potassium is an important mineral and electrolyte that serves multiple roles in the body.

Potassium deficiency can cause many undesirable problems including muscle cramps, weakness, diarrhea, low blood pressure, confusion, paralysis, and changes in heart rhythm. (https://www.uofmhealth.org/health-library/hw202677)

A warning on the back of the bottle states women who are pregnant or nursing will need to seek medical advice before using Alipotec Tejocote Root.

Bearing in mind the possible dangers tejocote root may present, we believe the warning should be extended to all potential users.

How Alipotec Tejocote Root Help with Weight Loss?

Alipotec Tejocote Root allegedly supports weight loss by suppressing appetite.

Supplements and medications that suppress appetite can be very helpful when you are on a low-energy diet because they make it easier to eat less food without feeling hungry.

However, good appetite suppressants don’t cause weight loss. They only support the efforts you are already making with diet and exercise.

Tejocote root is a source of pectin. It’s a water-soluble fiber that’s obtainable from several fruits and vegetables.

Pectin is primarily used as a thickening agent in foods. It’s a key ingredient in jams and jellies and is also present in many yogurt drinks.

Most pectin products use pectin from the peel of apples or citrus fruits.

In theory, when you consume tejocote root with water, the root fibers absorb the moisture and expand. If they expand sufficiently, they may suppress hunger by making the stomach feel full.

Glucomannan root works in the same way. However, the big difference between glucomannan and tejocote is there is plenty of research that shows it works.

Not only is glucomannan well researched; its value as an appetite suppressant and weight loss aid has also been evaluated and confirmed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

As for tejocote root, there’s is no evidence to suggest it can provide any weight loss support at all.

Alipotec Tejocote Root Customer Reviews?

Alipotec Tejocote Root has plenty of customer reviews. Some people say it works well for them but many reviewers are unimpressed.

The majority of negative reviews mention side effects. Perhaps more alarmingly, many of the positive reviews mention side effects too. Some people appear to believe side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and all-over body pain are “normal.”

We beg to differ. Side effects may be normal for tejocote root but they are not acceptable.

When people talk about their desire to lose weight, they are really referring to their wish to lose excess body fat.

Anything that causes you to poop more than normal and/or causes dehydration, will make your body lighter. Unfortunately, the weight loss will be due to the presence of less water and feces in the body.

Is There a Risk of Side Effects?

Many customer reviews mention side effects. Reports of diarrhea and aches and pains are unnervingly common.

One reviewer states the supplement gave her ulcers. Another reviewer blames the supplement for her anemia.

It’s entirely possible the people making these claims are attributing their maladies to Alipotec Tejocote Root when the real cause lies elsewhere. There is no way to know for sure but claims like these are not confidence building and information published at respected sources suggests additional health risks all potential users need to be aware of.

A case report available in Clinical Case Reports (March 2020) begins by pointing out tejocote root is easy to buy but has no “FDA indication of medicinal merit.”

The report then goes on to provide details of a 51-year-old woman who consumed Alipotec and went on to develop immune thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP).

ITP is a dangerous condition that reduces the number of platelets present in the blood. People suffering from the condition bruise easily and may not be able to control bleeding without seeking medical help.

Fortunately, the lady in question made a rapid recovery when she stopped taking Alipotec. (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ccr3.2804)

A report in the Cureus scientific journal (Feb 2021), also makes interesting reading. It provides information about a 23-year-old woman, who was previously in good health but developed acute pericarditis after consuming tejocote root.

Acute pericarditis is a condition that happens when the fibroelastic sac that surrounds the heart becomes inflamed. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7982003/)

Purchasing Options and Considerations

It’s generally possible to buy Alipotec Tejocote Root via Amazon. It’s also possible to obtain the product via a number of online retailers. Alipotec LLC does not appear to have an official website.

Depending on the supplier, you can expect to pay $20 – $30 per bottle. Each bottle provides a three-month treatment (100 pieces of the root).

Alipotec South TX LLC does have an official website. Customers who go there have the opportunity of buying the same pieces of root at vastly inflated prices. At the time of this review, EVL Alipotec root was retailing at the “reduced” price of $60 per bottle.

Alipotec Tejocote Root does not have a money-back guarantee.

Alipotec Tejocote Root Review – The Bottom Line

Many people need help to lose weight. That’s why there’s such a huge market for diet pills and similar products such as weight loss drops and meal replacement shakes.

Natural weight loss products are particularly popular because people believe they are kinder to the body than weight loss medications and pharmaceutical products.

Unfortunately, some natural ingredients can be equally as hard on the body – if not harder. Tejocote root is a good example.

Although there are plenty of manufacturers making big claims about tejocote root and weight loss, there is no proof the ingredient works.

There is, however, plenty of documented evidence that suggests using tejocote root for weight loss is not a smart move.

At best, Alipotec Tejocote Root may offer value as an appetite suppressant – if you are willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

All the best diet pills suppress appetite and do so without causing side effects. They also provide additional weight loss benefits such as speeding up metabolism to help you to burn extra fat.

Alipotec Tejocote Root could be described as overrated. It could also be described as unproven weight loss product that’s has the benefit of an immense amount of marketing hype. Too many manufacturers are making big claims for tejocote root and too few consumers are taking the time to do research and uncover the truth.

If you want a good natural appetite suppressant that’s safe to use, forget tejocote root products and choose ones that use glucomannan instead.

Nopal cactus extract and cayenne pepper extracts are also good alternatives to tejocote root. Both ingredients suppress hunger and offer weight loss support in other areas as well.

The best diet pills use one or more of these safe and natural ingredients and, unlike Alipotec Tejocote Root all of them have money-back guarantees.

Comparable Dietary Supplements

There are several other weight loss pills that are comparable:

A women’s appetite suppressant and fat containing glucomannan called LeanBean would be a direct comparable product.

PhenAprin is a hunger reducing capsule that’s marketed as an “advanced formula” weight loss aid. It’s made in the USA by SutraHealth.

There are also natural diet pills that work like phentermine that suppress appetite and also burn body fat.

FAQs

Is Alipotec Tejocote Root approved by the FDA?

No. Although the manufacturer does not make this claim, the companies behind some competing tejocote root products do. Not surprisingly, this has caused some confusion.
The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates medicines and drugs. It does not approve or recommend natural supplements.
Some of the best natural supplements are manufactured in FDA-approved facilities but that only means the FDA inspectors monitor the premises to ensure manufacturing standards remain high.

Is Alipotec Tejocote Root a fat burner?

No. Although it allegedly suppresses appetite, it does not boost metabolism to help you burn extra fat.

Can I use Alipotec Tejocote Root alongside my medication?

It would be unwise to use this or any other weight management product alongside medication without checking with your doctor first.

Is Alipotec Tejocote Root better than glucomannan

No. Multiple studies show glucomannan is an appetite suppressant that works. There are no studies that show tejocote root provides any weight loss support at all.
