SUMMARY
If VidaSlim does have any value for helping users lose weight, it’s probably going to be as a hunger reducer. However, there is a lack of scientific evidence to support such an ability.

There are many product that we would suggest looking at over and above.

We have a guide to Weight Loss Pills where we list the most effective brands on on the market

VidaSlim

VidaSlim is a weight management product distributed by VidaSlim USA. It’s the company’s flagship product. There are two pack sizes to choose from:

  • VidaSlim 30 Day
  • VidaSlim 90 Day

This is a very simple product. There is no complex formulation to worry about and it’s not a capsule, tablet, or weight loss powder. When you buy VidaSlim you are paying for a bottle that contains little pieces of root. You swallow them with water just as you would do with a pill.

Before the roots ended up in their plastic bottles, they were stretching out underneath tejocote trees.

Tejocote (Crataegus Mexicana) is native to Mexico and parts of Guatemala. It’s also known as Mexican Hawthorn but, in this review, we will stick to the name tejocote because it’s the one used in the VidaSlim marketing material.

VidaSlim USA also produces an enhanced version of its original product. It’s called VidaSlim Plus and, like the original version, it’s available in a 30 or 90-day supply.

VidaSlim Plus provides tejocote as a powder, fortifies it with vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial compounds, and places the combination in a push-together capsule shell.

Since its inception, the VidaSlim range has expanded to include several more products including herbal teas and a meal replacement shake.

How Does VidaSlim Work?

VidaSlim USA doesn’t provide any information about how tejocote root works. Fortunately, this information is available elsewhere online.

Tejocote apparently has the ability to soak up water and form a gelatinous compound that makes the stomach feel full. It’s an appetite suppressant.

Glucomannan has a similar ability. The big difference is, there is plenty of clinical evidence that proves glucomannan’s ability to suppress appetite. Go looking for proof of tejocote root’s abilities and you will draw a blank.

Some of the sites that sell tejocote root products make various other claims. One site states the root acts as a dilator that removes fat from the body and transforms it into energy. Again, there is no proof. It’s just marketing spiel.

Usage Guidelines

The recommended dose is one piece of tejocote root per day. The best time to take it is just after breakfast and you need to wash it down with a full glass of water.

You must not exceed the recommended dose.

VidaSlim USA also suggests drinking a further eight glasses of water throughout the day and eating one or two bananas, or similar high-potassium foods to help maintain correct mineral balance.

The need for potassium is not explained but potassium deficiency could become an issue while using tejocote because it can cause severe diarrhea.

If you are under 18-years of age, have a known medical condition, or are pregnant or nursing a child, it’s advisable to ask a physician before using this product.

That’s the advice provided on the VidaSlim website.

Our advice is different. Due to concerns about side effects, we suggest nobody use VidaSlim or any tejocote root product without a doctor’s approval.

Ingredients

VidaSlim only provides pieces of tejocote root.

The roots are a source of pectin and soluble fiber.

Pectin is sometimes used as a thickener in foods. In theory, pectin’s special relationship with water may allow tejocote root to expand in the stomach and reduce hunger. We are only speculating here, though, not dealing with scientifically proven facts. (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0268005X17309074)

VidaSlim Customer Reviews

We were unable to find many VidaSlim customer reviews but this is pieces of root sold under a brand name. Other manufacturers are selling tejocote root under different names so reviews are available. They don’t make impressive reading.

Although some people say that the root helps with weight loss, there are lots of reports of side effects.

Let’s take a look at some now:

I started using this product about a month ago and I was really hopeful that it would work. It didn’t. You’re supposed to take 2 pills in the morning on an empty stomach, but there were days where I took one as soon as I woke up and another before lunchtime just to make sure it worked. Still, nothing happened with my weight or anything else around me changing for the better. There are so many reviews online saying how well it works that made me think Vidaslim must be amazing because everyone seems to have such a great experience with it. But then they all say you need to do some research on your own due to their situation being different from mine anyway…whatever that means.”

I was a little bit skeptical about purchasing this product, but I was desperate and needed something to help me lose weight. The customer service representative on the other end of the phone convinced me that it would work, so I bought two bottles for $60. I figured if it didn’t work then at least I could give one bottle to my sister who has been trying to lose weight as well. When they arrived in the mail, they seemed like they were packaged very nicely with special instructions for use and dosage information right on them which made me feel confident in what I was doing.

And, in the interests of fairness, here one that has a more positive note.

am happy to report that I have lost weight and feel great. I used the tejocote root weight loss supplements from [insert company] and found they were very effective for me. One of my favorite things about these supplements is how much they reduced my hunger, which was something I couldn’t get past on many other diets. It’s also nice because now when you eat more it doesn’t seem as bad since you only need a little bit, so there are still plenty of foods to enjoy!

VidaSlim Side Effects

People taking tejocote root report a number of unpleasant side effects including vomiting, all-over body pain, and severe diarrhea.

One man using a tejocote root product for the first time even claims he woke up with severely impaired eyesight. The situation rectified itself but it took several hours.

Reports published in trusted scientific journals mention severe side effects as well so caution is to be advised.

Purchasing Options and Considerations

VidaSlim products are available via the company website and via independent consultants. For most people, buying VidaSlim from the official site is likely to be the easiest route.

At the time of this review, VidaSlim 30 Day was selling for $35 per bottle and VidaSlim 90 Day cost $50 more.

Is that cheap? I’ll let you decide for yourself. On the one hand, many weight management products cost an awful lot more. On the other hand, all you are getting is a bottle with pieces of tree.

Shipping is extra and, unless you live in the USA, it will double the price. That means non-US customers will be paying $70 for a 30-day supply of root. That’s too expensive and, when you deal with VidaSlim, you can forget all thoughts of a money-back guarantee.

VidaSlim Review Conclusion

If VidaSlim does have any value as a weight loss aid, it’s probably going to be as an appetite suppressant. However, there is a lack of scientific evidence to support such an ability.

Even if tejocote root can control hunger (and that’s a big “if”), the cost to the body is too high. Diarrhea, headaches, muscle pain, tejocote root can really put you through the wringer. It’s not worth it and, let’s not forget, even if it works, the best it can do is provide appetite control.

Glucomannan can do this too. More importantly, it can do so without making you feel ill. Alternatively, there are several good quality diet pills that combine appetite support with accelerated fat burning and other benefits as well. VidaSlim simply cannot compete.
