What is the Thrive Patch

The Thrive Patch is an adhesive weight loss plaster that sticks to the skin. The ingredients within patch are released into the bloodstream using something called Derma Fusion Technology. In simple terms sticking a Thrive Patch to your skin will allow its slimming formula to be absorbed through your skin and aid weight management.

The Thrive Patch is a weight loss patch. You stick it on your skin in the hopes that it will help you to lose weight.

weight loss patch sticking to the skin
Weight loss patches are applied to the skin easily. The places to apply the patches are on the upper arms or thighs and stomach.

There are several versions of the Thrive Patch available. All of them are sold as part of an eight-week lifestyle program created by the multi-level marketing company Le-Vel.

Le-Vel claims its lifestyle program helps with weight loss. It can also provide additional benefits such as improving digestion, brain health, and immune function.

How Does Le-Vel Sell the Thrive Patch?

Multi-level marketing (MLM) companies are structured differently from other types of companies. Instead of spending money on advertising their products they recruit distributors to market their products on a self-employed basis and pay them a commission on sales.

MLM distributors are also encouraged to recruit their own teams of distributors. If they are successful in this, they get paid additional commissions for the sales their distributors make.

They also get commissions on sales made by the distributors their distributors recruit. This typically goes a few levels down. Hence the name Multi-Level Marketing.

In the world of MLM, building a team of “downline” distributors is where the real money is. Yet the majority of MLM distributors would struggle to make a living wage. MLM distributors who become super-rich are few and far between but all MLM companies have them.

Level Thrive on social media.
Le-Vel have a reasonable good following on social media. The patches do have ‘influencer’ appeal

How Does the Thrive Patch Work?

Le-Vel does a good job of making this sound like a very clever and advanced product. It says the patches are powered by a Derma Fusion Technology (DFT) delivery system that’s the first of its kind.

It doesn’t matter how complicated and cutting edge you try and make it sound, skin patches that deliver ingredients through the skin have been around for a long time. Many people use nicotine patches to help appease their nicotine addiction when they stop smoking.

How to use the Thrive Patch

  1. Remove backing from Thrive DFT Patch – Gently and from one corner remove the backing from the patch.
  2. Applying the patch – Apply the patch to a dry area of skin. Ideally upper arm, thigh or stomach.
  3. Removing Patch – Simply peel off patch after 24 hours of use and discard.
  4. Applying a new patch – Apply a new patch to different area of skin. If you applied the patch to your bicep yesterday then apply to your thigh today.

Instead of nicotine, Le-Vel’s Thrive Patch provides natural compounds that are associated with weight loss. It’s basically just diet pill ingredients made into a patch instead of a pill.

After you’ve applied it to the skin, you continue to wear it for 24-hours. When the time’s up you take it off and put on another one instead.

The idea is that the patch will continue to deliver the active ingredients to your body 24-hours a day.

In theory, the patch should deliver the ingredients through the skin and into the blood. In reality, there is no way to know how much of each ingredient is present in the patch or if there is enough.

It’s also worth knowing DFT has not been studied. There is no way to be certain if the technology Le-Vel is using even works.

What’s the Best Way to Use Thrive Patch?

The Le-Vel website fails to provide any usage guidelines as such. The site says the Thrive “experience” involves three products you take each morning. That suggests the best time to apply the patch is at the beginning of the day.

Presuming the patches work, changing the patch at the same time every day should ensure the optimum amount of ingredients remain active in your blood.

The other two products customers are told to use alongside the patch are Thrive Premium Lifestyle Capsules and Thrive Premium Lifestyle Mix.

The capsules provide vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. The Lifestyle Mix is a shake that provides extra nutrients on top.

Although the Thrive Patch aims to support weight loss, the other two products are for maintaining good health.

Thrive Patch Ingredient Profile

The Thrive diet patch contains several active ingredients. The formulation changes a little from one version to the next.

The formulation used in the Thrive DFT Classic Green Edition contains:

  • ForsLean
  • Green Coffee Bean Extract
  • Garcinia Cambogia
  • Aloe Vera
  • L-Arginine
  • White Willow Bark
  • Cosmoperine
  • Limonene
  • CoQ10

Le-Vel doesn’t provide a complete ingredient list so it’s possible there may be additional compounds as well.

Other versions of the patch, such as the Thrive Ultra Patch and Thrive Black Label, contain ingredients such as:

  • Satiereal saffron extract
  • Green tea extract
  • Vitamin B12
  • Yerba mate
  • L-theanine
  • L-arginine
  • Quercetin
  • Guarana
  • 5-HTP

All of the ingredients in the patches are used in diet pills. Although some, such as green tea and Vitamin B12, are more popular than others.

What Do the Ingredients Do?

Because the formulation differs depending on which Thrive Patch you buy, for the purposes of this review, I’m going to concentrate on the virtues of the ones known to be present in Thrive DFT Classic Green Edition.

ForsLean

This a branded coleus forskohlii extract that’s sometimes used in diet pills. It’s not one of the more popular ingredients.

The results of a randomized, double-blind placebo-type study on women showed the herb failed to alter body composition. A similar study involving men produced a 4% reduction in body fat, but the results were variable.

Green Coffee Bean Extract

In their natural state, all coffee beans are green. Roast them and they turn brown. It improves the flavor but causes the beans to lose a chemical called chlorogenic acid.

Chlorogenic acid is a carb-blocker that reduces calorie intake by interfering with the way a specific digestive enzyme does its job.

One 12-week study suggests the presence of chlorogenic acid in their coffee helped the participants to lose more weight than the placebo group (5.4 kg vs. 1.79 kg).

However, the results of another study suggest the ingredient does not influence body mass at all.

Garcinia Cambogia

Garcinia cambogia is a popular weight loss ingredient that comes from a tropical fruit. Extracts from the rind provide hydroxycitric acid (HCA).

Data from research studies is conflicting. Some data supports using garcinia cambogia for weight loss, other data does not. Even the supportive studies show only marginal benefits.

For example, the results of a 12-week study conducted in New York show the compound outperformed the placebo. However, during the entire 12 weeks, the garcinia cambogia group only lost 0.88 kg more than the placebo group.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a succulent plant. The aloe vera in supplements is a gel that comes from its leaves.

Depending on your needs, you may swallow aloe vera or apply it to your skin. When taken orally, it’s a popular remedy for constipation. People apply it to their skin as a treatment for skin abrasions and minor burns. It has many other uses as well.

Most people tolerate small doses of aloe vera without issue. However, it may cause certain individuals to experience side effects such as muscle weakness and nausea.

Aloe vera may also react badly with certain medications. That means you will need to check with your doctor before using aloe vera alongside medicines or drugs.

L-Arginine

L-Arginine is an amino acid that finds its way into supplements of all kinds. It boosts nitric oxide (NO) within the body. This relaxes the blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure and improving circulation. The effect is known as vasodilation.

Sports supplements often contain L-Arginine and/or other NO boosters because they have the potential to improve training capability and muscle growth.

White Willow Bark

White willow bark extracts are an age-old pain reliever. The active component is salicin.

A minority of weight loss products have white willow bark in them but it probably offers more value as an alternative to aspirin.

Cosmoperine

This a patent-protected ingredient that provides piperine.

Piperine is an alkaloid that comes from black pepper and provides it with its distinctive smell. Manufacturers put piperine in supplements because it improves the bioavailability of other ingredients.

Bioperine is the most popular brand of piperine extract. In a head-to-head competition between Cosmoperine and Bioperine, Bioperine would win every time. It’s extremely potent stuff.

Limonene

Limonene is an oil that’s naturally-occurring in the peels of certain citrus fruits. It can be sourced from a few other botanical sources as well.

Limonene is an occasional ingredient in weight loss products. Manufacturers also use it to provide flavor in chewing gum and other foods and beverages.

The ingredient’s credentials as a weight loss aid are not th ge best. However, one study shows the smell of limonene can significantly reduce the appetite of blowflies. That’s interesting but it’s nothing to get in a buzz about. The ingredient’s ability to reduce appetite in humans has yet to be explored.

Are There Any Customer Reviews on the Thrive Patch?

It’s hard to find reliable sources of Thrive patch customer reviews. Most of the positive comments you can find online come courtesy of Le-Vel distributors.

Although multi-level marketing distributors often use the products they sell, it’s not in their interest to talk about them in anything but the most praising of terms.

There are however some unbiased Thrive reviews if you look hard enough

Does the Thrive Patch Have Side Effects?

Thrive weight loss patches are not recommended for people who are under the age of 18. Nor are they suitable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding a child.

People who have medical conditions or would need to use the patch alongside medication will need to consult a doctor before they start placing Thrive patches onto their skin.

If Le-Vel is aware of any side effects it’s not making the information available online but the company does warn people to stop using its patches if skin irritation occurs.

Skin rash is always a problem when using any type of patch you need to affix to your flesh. However, rotating the area you use does help make the problem less likely to occur.

Comments posted on blogs and forums suggest skin rash has been a problem for some Thrive patch users. There are also reports of other side effects including headaches, nausea, anxiety, stomach cramps, and palpitations.

Hit or Miss? (Can You Lose Weight with Thrive Patch?)

Le-Vel claims its Thrive Patch supports weight loss and improvements in energy and circulation. Appetite management is another benefit customers are told to expect.

Some of the ingredients are associated with weight loss. Unfortunately, as far as appetite management goes, unless you’re a blowfly there’s probably not a lot going on.

If the patch is successful in delivering L-Arginine to the blood, that may relax the blood vessels and improve circulation. Overall, the claims Le-Vel is making for its patch are not overly wild.

Unfortunately, there are doubts about the path technology’s ability to get them into the blood. Furthermore, the ingredient inclusion rates are unknown.

It’s impossible to damn Thrive Patch and say it won’t work. It may very well benefit individuals who are already pursuing a healthy lifestyle. Nevertheless, there are no independent studies that provide proof that it works. Bear that in mind if you are considering using Le-Vel diet patches and products to try and lose weight and thrive.

Thrive Patch Purchasing Options and Considerations

Thrive patches are only available via the Le-Vel website. However, it’s not possible to buy a supply of patches, or any other Le-Vel product, unless you have been referred to the site by a distributor.

As for the cost of the patch, that’s hidden behind closed doors. Unless a distributor grants you entry you will never know. However, products distributed by multi-level marketing companies are often unjustifiably expensive. Thrive patches are unlikely to be one of the cheapest weight loss patches to buy.

Buying just the patches is also likely to be incredibly hard. Le-Vel distributors will try to push you into buying the complete lifestyle plan. Some sources say this is likely to cost upward of $300 for an eight-week supply.

Guarantee

There is only a partial money-back guarantee. Customers who have opened the product and tried it can claim a refund but will only get 50% of their money back.
