Launched in 2004 by makeup artist David Klasfield, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics began with a humble set of lip balms that David himself cooked up in his own home kitchen. The line has since grown exponentially and includes everything from eye shadows and pencils to moisturizers and concealers. They're best know for their Lip Tar, a liquid lipstick in a cute little tube that makeup artists and beauty bloggers have been buzzing about for years.  It's got staying power that is the stuff of urban legends, but there are a few tricks to applying to get it to live up to the hype. Start with the Primer, which not only preps lips for the color, but also hydrates them. When applying the Tar, a little dab will do ya, so just put a tiny drop-sized amount on a cosmetic lip brush and spread it across your lips. (The tube will last you forever.) The product is very matte, so you might want to use a bit of Primer to refresh your pout throughout the day -- no need to add more color.

OCC also has a wide range of eye-popping hues which are extracted from plant sources. They also contain organic hemp oil and vitamin E for moisture and peppermint oil, which acts as a preservative (a natural, and safer, alternative to parabens). All OCC products are 100% cruelty free, with no animal testing or animal-derived ingredients like lanolin and beeswax. So pucker up!
