Juice Cleanse
IF A JUICE CLEANSE both intrigues and hungers you, visit raw-organic-vegan haven Organic Avenue. “[Our] philosophy is based on creating an attractive proposition for a lifestyle that promotes health, wellness and sustainability for people, animals and the environment,” says founder Denise Mari, who works out of Organic Avenue’s brand new, 4,000-square-foot space on Suffolk Street.
With four levels of five-day “LOVE” (aka live, organic, vegan, experience) cleanses—LOVEeasy (juice and raw, organic food), LOVEfast (juices, soups and salads), LOVEdeep (just liquids) and LOVEmore (greens-oriented)—and longer food and juice plans, it’s easy to settle on a strategy. Menu items like carrotginger soup, falafel and burritos (all made in the Organic Avenue kitchen in Long Island City) are delicious, and the fresh-pressed juices taste like juices should (i.e., untouched). The store carries a collection of sustainable products, and also hosts events, discussions and wellness workshops.
The results? “People walk away with a cleaner body, mind and spirit,” says Mari. “A new relationship and understanding about true nutrition are created.” 116 Suffolk St., 212-334-4593; organicavenue.com
